As the countdown to Design Show Australia 2026 begins, we’re spotlighting exhibitor House of Bohi. House of Bohi brings a four-generation Indian rug-making legacy from the renowned centre of Bhadohi to Australia, offering studio-designed and bespoke handcrafted rugs for both design professionals and private homes. Read on to discover their current design trends, and what you can expect to find at their stand.
Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?
House of Bohi is the Australian chapter of an Indian family legacy shaped by four generations of rug-making. BOHI is a quiet echo of Bhadohi, an homage to our founder Saima’s hometown in northern India and one of the world’s most renowned centres for handcrafted rugs.
Alongside our studio-designed collection, we specialise in custom and bespoke rugs for design trade professionals and private clients, bringing authentic craftsmanship to contemporary homes and design projects across Australia. Our collection and custom rug offering can be explored at houseofbohi.com.au

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?
What sets House of Bohi apart is simple. We do not simply source rugs. We come from generations of making them.
Through our family-owned workshop in Bhadohi, direct artisan relationships, and deep knowledge of the craft, we have closer control over quality, materials, communication, and design flexibility.
This allows us to approach custom work with more freedom and care, whether adapting one of our studio designs or creating something entirely bespoke.
Every rug we make carries genuine lineage, shaped by generations of skill rather than trend-driven production.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?
We are seeing a strong shift toward spaces that feel calmer, more grounded, and more personal.
Designers and homeowners are moving away from fast, disposable interiors and choosing pieces with texture, durability, and meaning. Natural fibres, sculptural forms, and handmade finishes continue to resonate strongly.
There is also growing interest in customisation, with clients seeking pieces tailored to their space and lifestyle rather than selecting something off the shelf. For us, that shift is exciting because it values craftsmanship over convenience and allows us to create pieces that add true value.
What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia?
Visitors can expect a tactile, material-led experience that showcases the depth, texture, and detail of our handcrafted rugs in person, offering something far more tangible than simply seeing them online.
We will be presenting a curated selection from our collection, including statement pieces, refined neutrals, and textured designs that highlight the beauty of work shaped by human hands. Alongside this, we will be showcasing our custom rug offering through materials, samples and colour pom trays, giving visitors a more hands-on way to explore bespoke possibilities.
Making the experience even more personal, our founder’s parents, who run our workshop in Bhadohi, will be visiting from India to support this next chapter of the family legacy. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet them, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the craft behind each rug.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia 2026?
We are excited to connect with the design community through meaningful conversations and look forward to sharing our story, understanding what designers are seeking, and forming new creative collaborations.
For a young Australian brand with generations behind it, it feels like the right place to begin this next chapter.
