As a returning exhibitor at Design Show Australia 2025, they share their design philosophy, key trends, and what’s in store for this year’s showcase.
Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?
Born from design, in the creative heart of Melbourne, Australia. About Space came from a simple but profound idea; lighting should be as unique as the space it illuminates. From the outset, we understood that lighting isn’t just about brightness; it’s about atmosphere, emotion, and connection.
We found our place in the world when we realised the joy of helping others find theirs. When our customers discovered the perfect solution for their spaces, we knew we were more than a lighting store—we were collaborators in their journey to bring life, warmth, and identity to their environments.
Our design ethos is clear: forward-thinking yet timeless, functional yet artful. Every piece we create is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, where form and function dance together in harmony. We embrace the individuality of every space, working hand-in-hand with architects, designers, and homeowners to craft bespoke lighting solutions that enhance, elevate, and energise.
At our core, we remain true to our Melbourne roots: a passionate, creative team dedicated to making people feel good in their spaces. Because when your space feels right, everything else falls into place.
What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?
Our in house product design team combined with our experienced team of lighting designers and our custom capabilities allow us to create not only original designs but bespoke lighting experiences for our customers.
Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?
As a brand we aren’t led by trends but more so we focus on the customer and their needs for longevity of design in their space. Currently we are continuing to focus heavily on energy efficiency and human centric lighting in both design and product. We are also seeing a more considered approach to lighting placement and the use of indirect lighting in line with the concept of biophilic design.
With this, and the influence of social media, we are seeing customers gravitating towards certain product;
- Personality Pieces: Injecting a bold piece into the space that speaks to who they are
- Mixed Materials: Working with elements like terracotta, glass, marble and Australian timber to ground their space

Design Show continues to bring together the best of the Australian design community year after year. While we value the opportunity to connect with attendees from all over Australia, we also leave feeling inspired each year – learning from the other exhibitors and everyone we have the pleasure of speaking to.
What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia? Any new launches?
We are well and truly in the planning stage of something new and exciting for About Space at Design Show 2025 – all we can say is we’ll see you there!
