Coastal Interior with Stella and Festif Linear

Meet the Brand: D. Bianco

As the countdown to Design Show Australia 2026 begins, we’re spotlighting exhibitor D. Bianco. Based in Sydney, D.Bianco designs and manufactures refined sculptural lighting that combines engineering precision with organic materials to create ambient, plastic-free pieces characterized by a soft, tranquil glow. Read on to discover their current design trends, and what you can expect to find at their stand.

Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?

At D.Bianco, we design and manufacture sculptural lighting in Sydney, Australia. Our focus is on creating distinctive pieces—particularly extra-long linear lights and our clear quartz collection—where each piece is designed to bring a soft, ambient glow and a quiet yet striking presence to an interior.

Founded by a husband-and-wife duo, we combine engineering precision with artistic design to create lighting that feels both refined and expressive. Our designs focus on sculptural, modern forms and organic, unique materials that create ambience and a sense of calm and intrigue within a space. At the same time, we aim to avoid exposed light bulbs, harsh lighting, and the use of plastics wherever possible.

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?

What differentiates D.Bianco is that we design and manufacture our lighting locally in Sydney, maintaining full control over both craftsmanship and design integrity. Most components are developed from scratch—including our own brass fittings—allowing us to create truly original pieces rather than assembling standard parts.

This combination of engineering precision, artisanal craftsmanship, and natural materials results in lighting that goes beyond function—each piece becoming a modern jewel within the interior, defined by a soft, atmospheric glow not achievable with mass-produced fixtures.

A defining part of our work is our extra-long sculptural linear lights, which can extend up to six metres, as well as our Clear Quartz (Gemstone) collection. We hand-select high-grade crystals and, for selected designs, carve them by hand. Each stone is inherently unique, revealing delicate silver threads and natural inclusions—organic markings formed over millennia that cannot be manufactured.

When illuminated, these crystals expose a remarkable sense of depth and a subtle, ethereal inner glow that glass cannot replicate—bringing a refined, quiet luxury into the space.

We also offer a high level of customisation across metal finishes, timber elements, and dimensions, which is highly valued by interior designers. To support their workflow, we provide BIM/CAD files, allowing seamless integration into architectural and interior projects.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?

We’re seeing a strong shift toward natural materials, texture, and expressive interiors that feel warm and personal rather than minimal and sterile. This is particularly evident in the move away from harsh downlights in favour of layered lighting.

Lighting is becoming sculptural—a focal point within a space rather than a purely functional element. By layering floor lamps, wall sconces, and task lighting, we can create a soft, inviting glow that eliminates clinical shadows. This focus on well-being through diffused, ambient lighting reflects a more thoughtful, human-centred design. Overall, interiors are becoming more emotional, tactile, and individual, prioritising a warm atmosphere that feels lived-in and calm.

What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia?

At Design Show Australia, visitors to our stand can expect a highly tactile and immersive experience that goes beyond simply viewing lighting products.

We will be showcasing a selection of our pieces that have not been seen anywhere else before, including our new Gemstone Collection. Guests will be able to touch and experience our braided lighting rope, explore different electroplated metal and timber finishes, and actively play with the dimming of our lighting to understand how atmosphere can be shaped in real time.

A key highlight is the launch of our Gemstone Collection, representing a sophisticated evolution in contemporary designer wall lights. D.Bianco is defined by an innovative approach to carving and utilising natural materials—specifically Clear Quartz—to create lighting that brings a sense of quiet luxury to architectural spaces. Each piece is hand-selected for its clarity and individual character, designed as a contemporary jewel within the interior.

Overall, we aim to create a space where visitors can not only see our work, but truly experience how material, light, and craftsmanship come together.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia?

What we’re looking forward to most at Design Show Australia is connecting directly with designers, architects, and homeowners and seeing their reaction when they experience our lighting in person.

It’s also a valuable opportunity for dialogue. We enjoy understanding how designers are thinking about their projects, what challenges they’re solving, and how lighting can support their vision. That exchange of ideas is often where new concepts begin.

Ultimately, it’s about seeing people move from curiosity to genuine emotional response—when lighting stops being a product and becomes an experience within a space.
