We speak with Nick Greenwood, National Sales Manager of Zepel Fabrics who will be showcasing their beautiful fabrics and designs in the inaugural Textile Village at Design Show Australia 2024.

Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?

Zepel is a textile brand that brings the best of  European high-performance innovation to suit the Australian lifestyle. We bring 40 years of textile know-how to both residential and commercial markets, and we’re a leading supplier of fabric for drapery and upholstery (as well as some pretty special wallpaper!)

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?

We’re perhaps best known for our FibreGuard fabrics, which describe our extensive offer of stain-resistant and highly durable upholstery and drapery fabric. Unlike stain protective coatings and sprays that only last a few years, FibreGuard technology is woven into the fabric itself, which means it keeps its stain-resistant properties wash after wash.

What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at the Textile Village?

Our team are going to be showcasing the benefits of FibreGuard live on the stand – visitors will be able to see “magic” demonstrations of stains disappearing before their very eyes! We’ll also have all our latest FibreGuard fabrics to browse – some beautiful cord velvets, recycled options, and our very first stain-resistant vinyl.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?

We’re seeing a lot of confidence when it comes to colour – consumers at every level of the market are embracing colours like pinks, olive greens and rusty reds as the “new neutrals”, and we are loving it! We’re also seeing a huge shift towards sustainability and eco-responsibility, with organic fibres and recycled synthetics.

Could you highlight any recent collaborations or projects that have been particularly impactful for your brand?

We have been lucky to work on some amazing hospitality projects recently – Entrecote by Brahman Perera, the Beverley Rooftop by Mitchell & Eades, and we’re very excited to see our fabrics in the new StandardX Hotel Melbourne by Hecker Guthrie.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia?

We are really excited to see the Australian textiles community really shine at the new Textiles Village – great to see so many brands coming together.
