Alec Tzannes is the founding Director of Tzannes. He established the studio’s distinctive design philosophy, with its emphasis on intellectual rigour, collaboration, sustainability and ethics. He is central to the strategic direction of the practice, and responsible for all projects, ensuring consistency across all fields.
He has directed the design of International House Sydney and Daramu House both built examples of mass timber construction.
Alec is behind innovative commerical projects such as Daramu house barangaroo – Australia’s first engineered timber office building and he Brewery Yard – Sydney’s first and largest example of a precinct wide tri-generation facility integrated as part of adaptive reuse.
