Hailing from South Africa and enriched by her French heritage, Roz’s journey to design has been anything but conventional. From law to linguistics, from worldly travels to the art of storytelling, she has embraced myriad experiences, each converging into her present identity: a designer who deftly navigates both the structural and the emotive.   

In partnership with her life and creative partner, Christopher de Waal McKenzie, Roz co-founded Markian—a design studio where the interplay of interior spaces and handcrafted products exists in thoughtful harmony. Here, elegance meets the unexpected. Where form gracefully follows feeling, and every detail embodies intention. 

Markian transcends the concept of a studio; it is a philosophy “boldly contrarian, yet remarkably subtle.” It is a collaboration that transcends disciplines and unites individuals. Roz and Chris alongside their other business partners Justin and Andrew Barrett personify the convergence of brand, space, and object, melding legacy with experimentation, and harmonising relationship with purpose.   

Their other venture, Unlmtd Agency, started this dialogue, having woven together branding and strategy, identity and space. Together, Roz and Chris envision their work as a vibrant intersection “where brands, products, and spaces converge,” reflecting their shared conviction that exceptional design is not merely a service, but a profound calling.
