The Looped Chair

William is a design student based in Australia, with a focus on sustainable and experiential design. His practice uses objects as tools for reflection, exploring how material transformation and structural intervention can reshape perception. Through thoughtful experimentation, he seeks to reconnect everyday experience with cultural and environmental awareness.

The Looped Chair reinterprets the Ming round-back chair through lifecycle thinking. A discarded chair is cut and reassembled, gaining renewed life through dialogue with traditional spirit. The “loop” operates as form, structure, and process, framing sustainability as an open, evolving negotiation rather than restoration.
