Meet the Brand: WATERROWER | NOHRD

National Media

WATERROWER | NOHRD seamlessly blends craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation to create fitness equipment that’s as beautiful as it is functional. As a returning exhibitor at Design Show Australia 2025, they share insights on industry trends, new product launches, and the future of design-led wellness spaces.

Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?

At WATERROWER | NOHRD, we create handcrafted fitness equipment that seamlessly blends performance with design. Since 1988, we have been producing our iconic wooden rowing machines in Rhode Island, USA, drawing inspiration from Shaker furniture to craft pieces that are as functional as they are beautiful. NOHRD extends this philosophy across a full range of fitness equipment, all handcrafted in Germany using sustainably sourced wood and premium materials. Every product we create is designed to enhance both the workout experience and interior aesthetics, ensuring that fitness equipment becomes a considered part of any space.

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?

We take a different approach to fitness equipment one that prioritises craftsmanship, sustainability, and design. Rather than being hidden away, our products are made to be seen and appreciated. Every WATERROWER and NOHRD piece is handcrafted from sustainably sourced wood and built to last. The WATERROWER’s patented WaterFlywheel mimics the natural dynamics of rowing, providing a smooth, quiet, and immersive workout. Meanwhile, our NOHRD range, including the NOHRD Bike, TriaTrainer and Sprintbok curved treadmill redefines home and commercial training, blending natural materials with innovative engineering.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?

We are seeing a strong movement towards wellness-led design, where interiors are curated to support a balanced and mindful lifestyle. People are moving away from bulky, plastic gym equipment and instead choosing fitness solutions that complement their homes. Sustainability is also at the forefront, with more emphasis on natural materials and durable craftsmanship something we have championed from the start. The rise of multifunctional, design-led training solutions such as our NOHRD WallBars, which serve as both a training tool and a sculptural wall piece is a trend we expect to continue growing.

As a repeat exhibitor, why do you choose Design Show Australia as the go-to platform to showcase your products?

Design Show Australia brings together architects, designers, and industry professionals who share our appreciation for form, function, and sustainability. It’s the ideal setting for us to showcase how our products are not just fitness equipment but design pieces that integrate seamlessly into modern interiors. The event allows us to connect with those who value craftsmanship and innovation, making it a key platform for us year after year.

What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia? Any new launches?

Visitors will be able to experience the WATERROWER first-hand, understanding how its handcrafted wooden frame and water resistance create a uniquely smooth and natural rowing sensation. Alongside this, we will be showcasing a wide selection from our NOHRD range, including the NOHRD Bike, a beautifully crafted indoor cycle; the TriaTrainer, a versatile 3-in-1 workout bench; our elegant wooden Dumbbells; the SlimBeam cable machine; the Sprintbok curved treadmill; and our signature WallBars. Each piece reflects our commitment to quality materials and considered design, offering visitors a chance to see how fitness equipment can enhance a space rather than compromise it.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia?
