Meet the Brand: Wautier Carpets

As the countdown to Design Show Australia 2026 begins, we’re spotlighting exhibitor Wautier Carpets, a Sydney-based boutique studio specialising in luxury bespoke carpets and rugs for residential and commercial markets, featuring premium European brands and exclusive in-house designs. Read on to discover their current design trends, and what you can expect to find at their stand.

Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?

We are a boutique studio from Sydney, specialising in luxury, bespoke carpets and rugs. We offer a curated selection of premium European brands alongside our own in-house designs. Our commitment to integrity, craftsmanship and design innovation positions us as a leader in both the luxury residential and commercial flooring market.

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?

Our bespoke-first approach allows us to move with precision and intent. While backed by over 60 years of manufacturing expertise, we operate with a level of agility that enables true innovation across fibres, construction, and design. Led by Director Chris Walters, our close relationships with mills and makers allow us to push boundaries while maintaining an uncompromising standard of quality.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?

Yes! We’re both seeing and driving the movement towards tactility – high-low textures and a more expressive interplay of both texture and pattern together. As digital saturation increases, materiality has become essential. Texture, acoustics and softness underfoot bring a sense of grounding and human connection back into interior spaces. Soft furnishings are central to how a space feels.

What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia? Any new launches?

We’ll be presenting our latest collection, Evoke—a range of exceptionally soft, lustrous carpets designed to elevate both residential and commercial environments. We’re also showcasing a curated selection from Jacaranda Carpets, including a TENCEL™ rug we’ll be giving away during the show. The stand itself explores this season’s tonal direction, with electric blues and violets translated into a tactile, immersive display.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia 2026?

We’re always excited by artists who are pushing boundaries within textiles so we’re particularly looking forward to seeing Rachel Theodorakis’ work in person.
