Modern Methods of Construction are often discussed as a manufacturing or construction challenge; the success or failure of MMC is usually determined much earlier through design capability, procurement approaches, digital integration and industry readiness. This session will examine why the challenge facing MMC in Australia is not simply one of technology or workforce, but one of systems capability. As construction expands toward more industrialised delivery models, design, procurement, manufacturing, workforce capability and implementation can no longer operate as disconnected functions. Scaling MMC will require a fundamentally different relationship between industry, government and education.
